Welcome to tau-plus.com. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the tau-plus.com website (the "Website"), our browser extension (the "Extension"), and our AI chatbot service (the "Chatbot"), collectively referred to as the "Services."

By accessing or using our Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Services.

1. Important Disclaimer: No Affiliation

The tau-plus.com Website, the Extension, and the Chatbot are independent, third-party products. They are not official products of Tel Aviv University, nor are they affiliated with, endorsed, or sponsored by Tel Aviv University in any way. All data, information, and tools are provided on an unofficial basis.

2. Use of Services

You agree to use our Services only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Extension or Chatbot.
  • Use the Services in any way that could damage, disable, or impair them.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any systems or networks connected to the Services.
  • Use the Services to store or transmit malicious code.

3. Service-Specific Terms

A. Website Content

The Website may contain data, statistics, and other information related to courses and academic matters. This data is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis and is explicitly unofficial. We do not take any responsibility for, and make no warranties regarding, the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or reliability of any content on the Website. You acknowledge that you use and rely on this information entirely at your own risk.

B. Browser Extension

The Extension is designed to assist you. By default, the Extension may collect and share anonymized, aggregated grades distribution data to contribute to community statistics. This feature can be disabled by you in the Extension's settings.

The Extension does not collect or share any Personal Identifiable Information (PII) unless explicitly stated in our Privacy Policy.

C. AI Chatbot

The Chatbot is an experimental tool provided for convenience. We, the developers of tau-plus.com, take no responsibility for the accuracy, suitability, or quality of the responses generated by the Chatbot. You interact with the Chatbot at your sole discretion and risk.

If you voluntarily provide your official Tel Aviv University credentials (or any other credentials) to the Chatbot, you do so at your own risk. We will store these credentials in an encrypted format in Google Firestore, in compliance with applicable Israeli law regarding data protection. However, you acknowledge that providing these credentials to a third-party service carries inherent risks, and we disclaim all liability related to your use of this feature.

D. Advertising

Our Services are provided free of charge. To support the continued development and maintenance of our Services, we display advertisements on the Website.

  • Third-Party Ads: We use third-party advertising networks, including Google AdSense, to display advertisements. These ad networks operate independently and have their own terms of service and privacy policies.
  • Ad Content: We do not control the specific content of advertisements displayed by third-party ad networks. While we strive to ensure ads are appropriate, we are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or opinions expressed in any advertisements.
  • Clicking on Ads: If you click on an advertisement, you may be directed to a third-party website. We are not responsible for the content, privacy practices, or terms of service of any third-party websites you visit through advertisements.
  • Tracking Technologies: Ad networks may use cookies, web beacons, and similar tracking technologies to collect information about your browsing behavior. For more details on what data is collected and how to opt out, please refer to our Privacy Policy.
  • No Endorsement: The display of advertisements on our Website does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation, or approval of the advertised products, services, or companies.
  • Ad Blockers: You may use ad-blocking software at your discretion. However, we kindly ask that you consider disabling ad blockers on our Website, as ad revenue helps us maintain and improve our free Services.

4. Intellectual Property

The Services and their original content, features, and functionality are and will remain the exclusive property of tau-plus.com and its licensors. The Services are protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws of both Israel and foreign countries.

5. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL TAU-PLUS.COM, ITS DEVELOPERS, AFFILIATES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS OR REVENUES, WHETHER INCURRED DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:

  • (a) YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE THE SERVICES;
  • (b) ANY CONDUCT OR CONTENT OF ANY THIRD PARTY ON THE SERVICES;
  • (c) ANY CONTENT OBTAINED FROM THE SERVICES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ANY RELIANCE PLACED ON UNOFFICIAL DATA;
  • (d) UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, USE, OR ALTERATION OF YOUR TRANSMISSIONS OR CONTENT, INCLUDING ANY CREDENTIALS YOU PROVIDE.

THIS LIMITATION OF LIABILITY APPLIES REGARDLESS OF THE LEGAL THEORY ON WHICH THE CLAIM IS BASED, INCLUDING CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER BASIS, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE.

6. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless tau-plus.com and its developer(s) from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs or debt, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees), resulting from or arising out of a) your use and access of the Service, or b) your breach of these Terms.

7. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Israel, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Tel Aviv, Israel, to resolve any legal matter arising from these Terms.

8. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by posting the new Terms on the Website. Your continued use of the Services after any such change constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
